Monotypes

I've been doing a bunch of monotypes recently. My procedure involves rolling ink onto a copper or plexiglass plate, scraping away the ink to create white or halftone marks, and running it through an etching press, printing onto dry paper. "Toast" also has some marks added to the paper after printing.

Monotype in black and white, entitled "Toast." Depicts five men around a table, with central figure at the head of the table leading the others in toast. They are surrounded by darkness, illuminated by a lamp on the table, creating a strong chiaroscuro effect.

Monotype in black and white, entitled "Kafé Kafka," depicting a table at at restaurant where two semi-defined insect-like creatures are being server by a stocky waitress.

Monotype in black and white entitled "When I Take My Tiger To Tea," depicting a two figures in old fashioned ladies' attire having tea. The one on the left appears to be an amiable looking tiger.

Monotype in black and white, entitled "Shuffle," depicting a scene in a nightclub or restaurant with a central figure walking, while seated figures look on. The walkers feet and lower legs are surrounded by a cloudy haze of light.
